Sheetsteel helmet (˜1870)

Fire helmet from Germany. The helmet is made of sheet steel, its comb of brass. The helmet shape corresponds to the Württembergischen form of 1870. At the front there is the so called „Ortsplatte", a coat of arms with the first letter of the village. Here the “R” for Rimsingen in southern Germany. Why the brass comb was blackened is not known.
