German Reich until 1918 Felt helmet (˜1830)
In this collection since: 30.10.2014
0633 Fire helmet from Germany. The helmet shown here is a painted felt helmet. The felt receives its strength through glue and the subsequent varnishing. In 1820, the company Maury & Comp- in Offenbach am Main produced felt helmets. The helmets were not often found in fire brigades, but they still existed. The helmet was reinforced by a flat round brass comb. The edges of the eye and neck screen are covered with brass. The inner helmet of leather corresponds to the inner helmets of the usual leather helmets of this time. On the front is the letter "P" made of brass. The helmet comes from the Hamburg area. The fire brigade of the city of Pinneberg is nearby the city of Hamburg and could be the owner of this helmet..
