Switzerland Synthetic helmet (˜1989)
In this collection since: 29.03.2013
0527 Fire helmet from Switzerland. The red helmet, made of high strength thermoplastic, was distributed by the Swiss company Sicli in 1989 and it was used by the Fire Department of the City of Zurich. The type was called P952. Previously, the helmet number 48 was in Zurich. The predecessor was used until the year 1988. The P952 was only a very short time in use. The helmet is the last model before the Gallet series, which was used in Zurich from the year 1990. The manufacturer of the helmet is the U.S. company Phenix Technology, Inc. in Riverside, California. In the years around 1989, the helmet was called P952. "P" stands for Phenix. The "952" was a code that was used in the fire service. It means: "report on conditions". Company founder Ray Russell of the Phenix Technology, Inc. writes to request, that the fire department from Geneva wore the helmet in white. In addition, the helmet was used besides Switzerland, in countries such as Spain, Norway and South Africa. Today (2013) the helmet is called no longer "P952" but "First Due 1500". 1500 refers to the NFPA 1500. This specifies the minimum requirements for protective equipment for fire and rescue service.
