Greece Synthetic helmet (˜1985)
In this collection since: 17.09.2006
0274 Fire helmet of an airport fire department in Greece. The helmet was built at the German company Römer according to DIN 4840 (German Industry Norm). He is conceived in the size 1-3 for head sizes of 53 to 63 cm. It is astonishing, that he is absolutely identical with the Danish helmet no.: 120. The yellow helmet from glass fiber should belong to the most progressive or most modern helmets of Europe because of his complete conception. (Stand 1995 as it didn't give the modern helmets of Schuberth, MSA, Dräger, Gallet, Rosenbauer etc.). The helmet has a ball visor from Polycarbonat and an aluminum coated neck guard, which one is to close under the chin with a velcro. The helmet reminds of a work helmet in his form. The helmet bell doesn't have an integrated comb, but it is very high, however. The inside helmet is very miserable made of synthetic material however with additional tapes. A chinstrap isn't available. The Greek state emblem (Greek cross with guard star) is appropriate at the front. See helmet 107.
These helmets were mainly use from 1980 by officers of larger fire departments and even from airport firefighters on the Greek mainland in, or around Athens.
The traditional leather helmets (helmet no.: 107 ) were used in Greece until the 1990s years! The rearrangement to the modern helmet generations was only then carried out. Due to the bad protection effect of these helmets it wasn't surprising if one obtains better helmets for airport fire departments.
With the new generations 1990 one also has for certain exchanged these helmets.
Firefighters and Sub- Officers wore then the plated Gallet F1, Lieutenant and Officers weare the Rosenbauer Heros in fluorescent yellow.
