Fire helmet from Portugal. The black leather helmet dates from around 1910. Manufacturer is the British company Merryweather. The leather helmet consists of three parts. The comb was sewn to the helmet shell. At the front there is a big metal emblem. The coat of arms shows the phoenix. A symbol that is very common in Portugal. On the chest of the bird is the coat of arms of the city of Cascais. However, the name unter it is Carcavelos. The reason for this is, that since 1898 Carcavelos is a district of Cascais.
