Turkey Synthetic helmet (˜1975)
In this collection since: 11.05.2017
0929 Fire helmet from Turkey. The manufacturer of the lightweight plastic helmet is the Turkish company Filiz from Izmir. The helmet comes from the professional fire department of the city of Istanbul. The fiberglass helmet was worn around 1975 by the crew of the Beyazit fire watch tower. The Beyazit Tower (Beyazit Kulesi or Serasker Kulesi) is located in Istanbul's Fatih district, on Beyazit Square, in close proximity to the University of Istanbul. The Beyazıt Tower has served as a fire station since the first construction in 1749 and as a transmission tower for maritime traffic on the Golden Horn. At the front of the helmet is the corresponding metal badge showing this tower.
In the helmet is a sticker with the inscription: "FILIZ Izmir Tel 37057".
The helmet itself is reminiscent to American military helmets from the time of the Second World War.
