Weimar Republic until 1933 Leatherhelmet (˜1925)
In this collection since: 24.04.2017
0921 Fire helmet from Germany. Spike helmet (Pikelhaube) of the German Reich. For details about the Pickelhaube see helmet 0033, Germany.
The spiked helmet bears the emblem of Prussia. Based on the Prussian eagle, the using time can be dated exactly. From 1900 to 1925 the eagle has a crown, a scepter and he looks to the left side. (see helmet 0729, Germany) From 1925 to 1930 he no longer has a crown and scepter, he looks to the left side. (see this helmet) From 1930 to 1936 the shape of the eagle is more modern and narrower. His style is simpler and he looks to the right side. (see helmets 0872, 0884, Germany)
Accordingly, you can classify the Pickelhaube in the period between 1925 and 1930. While the Pickelhauben of Prussia on the chest of the eagle have a badge of the fire department (helmet and axes - see helmet 0648), are in the Prussian Provinces at this point the coats of arms of the respective province appropriate.
The spike helmet of the fire department was for high officer grades. It has nickel-plated fittings, cross blade fitting with tip unscrewable for Paradebusch. Arched nickel-plated chinscales, fastened with slotted screws. The inside color of the helmet is brown. On the left side is the cockade of Prussia in the colors black-white-black, on the right side is the cockade of the German Reich in the colors black-white-red.
The helmet was built by the company Carl Henkel from Bielefeld.
