Third Reich until 1945 Steel helmet (˜1936)
In this collection since: 24.02.2017
0893 Fire helmet from Germany. The helmet type M34 was prescribed by order of 26.04.1934 as a fire helmet. He replaced the hitherto used leather helmets. The emblems were initially prescribed as you can see on helmet number 0048, Germany. With arrangement of 28.07.1936 the emblems were changed. This method of wearing was left until the end of the war in May 1945. Under the existing emblems you can see the black color that covered the earlier badges.
The helmet comb, which was prescribed by order of 03.05.1934 for fire helmets, is still available. The decree for the comb applied to professional fire brigades until November 1938, for volunteer fire departments even until the end of 1939. With orders of the Chief of the Ordnungspolizei on 27.12.1939, the combs had to be removed. The long holes in the helmet bell should be closed with blind rivets. (See helmet number 0383, Germany). On the right inside there is an unreadable engraving (stamping). It starts with the letters: "Vorsch ... Ede ... ..e.J.
