Weimar Republic until 1933 Leatherhelmet (˜1933)
In this collection since: 13.02.2017
0884 Fire helmet from Germany. The basis of the spike helmet from the time of the Weimar Republic, is a leather fire helmet, which originated from the M15 of the military. (see 0294/0267 Germany) Often even military helmets were used by fire brigades. The M15 was partly used until the mid-1930s. The Pickelhaube was reserved for higher fire brigade officers. The helmet coat of arms shows here the eagle of the Weimar Republic. On his chest is not the general fire service sign (see helmet number 0872, Germany) but the coat of arms of the Prussian province of Westphalia to see. The helmet was worn in the period between 1930 and 1934. The fittings, the cross blade and the cavalry tip are nickel plated. The tip can be unscrewed. Next, the helmet has a curved, nickel-plated scales and attachment with lateral cockades. Eye and neck shield are not painted inside but black. On the left side is the cockade of Prussia (black-white-black) and on the right the cockade of the German Reich (black-white-red). The manufacturer of the helmet can not be determined.
See helmet number 0033 and 872, Germany
