Brass helmet (˜1895)
In this collection since: 04.02.2017 |
0875 |
Fire helmet from Argentina. The brass helmet dates back to 1895. It was worn by the fire department of the capital Buenos Aires. The helmet was built in France. It corresponds to the French fire helmets of this time. For details on the helmet see helmets 0466, 0541, France. However, he has a changed badge. Instead of the grenade on the coat of arms, the coat of arms of Argentina can be seen here. On the banderole above it is not "Sapeurs Pompiers" and the corresponding place but "Bomberos de la Capital"
The helmet was worn between 1900 and 1930. In neighboring Brazil, the same helmet was used at that time. See helmet number 0669, Brazil. After 1930, the helmet was replaced by leather helmets.
