Weimar Republic until 1933 Vulcanized fiber helmet (˜1930)
In this collection since: 25.01.2017
0871 Fire helmet from Germany. The vulcanized fiber helmet dates from around 1930. For more information on this helmet, see helmet number 0377, Germany - Weimar Republic and 0920, Sweden.
The black helmet is almost as heavy as the steel helmets of that time. The surface of the helmet is painted inside and outside. For protection, the edge was provided with a bezel made of brass. The inner helmet made of leather was attached to 3 points on the helmet bell. The chin strap made of leather has a two-point attachment; a neck leather could be buttoned to two leather straps and a brass pin on the rear comb rail. The head impact plate is very solid; it fills almost the entire area above the inner helmet. On the inner helmet is the badge of the company Robert Lubstein Berlin attached. The stamp indicates the following: DRGM and EREL - FIBER HELMET. EREL stands for the initials of Robert Lubstein (eReL). Instead of an aluminum comb here a so-called Kreuzblattbeschlag is attached. This type of fittings was taken over by officer spiked helmets. The cross blade was fastened with round rivets, no stars. Instead of a pickle, a blind cover was screwed on. At the front there is a brass badge. It shows the initials "FH" and a banderole with the motto of the fire brigades: Gott zur Ehr – dem Nächsten zur Wehr (God for honor - the neighbor for defense). The badge is the standard badge of Bavaria as it was also worn on the leather helmets M15.
