Fire helmet from Germany. The leather helmet shown here, is probably one of the most built leather helmets in Germany. The helmet was made in the period after the First World War. It was derived from the M15 used in the German Army. Often the army helmet M15 was also converted to a fire helmet. The helmet has a comb made of leather instead of a brass comb. The comb was so common in Saxony. He was also attached to helmets of fireman electricians. On the helmets of fire electricians, the other common metal parts are missing. But here, the eyeshield is bordered with brass, the lateral Kokarden for attachment of the chin strap are also made of brass. The helmet was worn in the period between 1915 and 1934. At the front there is a tin badge. It bears the inscription: Freiwillige Bürger Feuerwehr Iserlohn (Volunteer Citizen Fire Department Iserlohn). This fire service was founded in 1878. The reason for this was the fire of the HOTEL SANDER on January 21, 1878.
