Fire helmet from Portugal. The black leather helmet dates from around 1910. Manufacturer is the British company Merryweather. The leather helmet consists of three parts. The comb was sewn to the bell. At the front there is a big metal emblem. The coat of arms of the Obidos fire brigade shows the phoenix, the usual sign fort the fire departments in Portugal. On his chest, there is the coat of arms of Obidos and under it, the lettering "Obidos". The fire department of Obidos was founded in 1927. From Wikipedia: Óbidos is the name of a small town in the Portuguese region Centro. The town is known for its preserved, completely surrounded by walkable city walls, and laced with flower-filled streets historic center. |
