Fire helmet from Canada. The helmet of the UN Blue Helmets was produced by the company Safeco in July 1987. The helmet type is called Chieftain Citation. For more information on the helmet see helmet number 0247, Canada. The helmet was worn by the fire department of the UNMIK base in Pristina (Kosovo). From Wikipedia: UN Security Council Resolution 1244 (UNSCR 1244) of 10 June 1999, also known in public as the Kosovo Resolution, provides the international legal basis for the establishment of the United Nations Transitional Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), which establishes a civil administration in the United Nations Kosovo and the stationing of the international security presence KFOR. The fire brigade of the UN Blue Helmets was responsible for the headquarters and on request for special operations outside. The unit also helped with the reconstruction oft he fire departments in Kosovo. |
