Brass helmet (˜1825)
In this collection since: 04.06.2016 |
0800 |
Fire helmet from Great Britain. The brass helmet was manufactured by Merryweather. Merryweather oriented himself with his helmet to the French fire helmet from the time between 1825 and 1850. (see helmets 0161/0439/0541 France). Merryweather first took over also the French helmet coat of arms and the patterns in the helmet comb before replacing the helmet coat of arms in the second model. In its third version (see here), the crest became flatter and the dragon symbol was introduced instead of the pattern in the crest. The helmet was used in this form between 1900 and 1935. |
