In this collection since: 25.02.2016
0773 Fire helmet from Germany. The black leather helmet comes from the time around 1910. For details of the helmet see helmet number 487, Germany. The badge of the Prussian province of Hanover (today Lower Saxony) is attached to the front of the helmet. Under the coat of arms is the place name Essern.
From Wikipedia:
After the war of 1866, which Hanover had lost on the side of Austria, Prussia annexed the kingdom of Hanover and incorporated it as a province of Hanover into its territory. In 1946, the state of Hanover was founded. It merged soon afterwards with the smaller neighboring countries Braunschweig, Oldenburg and Schaumburg-Lippe to the new country of Lower Saxony, which took over the capital as well as essential parts of the state symbolism of the country Hanover.
Essern is a district of the Diepenau district in the municipality of Uchte in the Lower Saxony district of Nienburg / Weser.
