France Synthetic helmet (˜1960)
In this collection since: 22.01.2016
0748 Fire helmet from France. The helmet was built by the French company Petitcollin Paris around 1960. The glass-fiber helmet of the type Chartres was the competitor of the Adrian helmets, used at that time, and did not get used to the fire brigades. (See Helmet No. 0038, France). Only with the helmets of the type Petitcollin (like the manufacturing company) around 1965 the plastic helmets put through. The Chartres helmet is not significantly different from Petitcollin. It has a narrower brim and a narrower comb at the front. The inner helmet and material are nearly the same for both helmets. The helmet has the classic brass badge of the French fire brigade at the front. On the banderole stands: "Sapeurs Pompiers D'Imécourt". Imécourt is a small village about 45 km northeast Reims in the Ardennes. Usually the helmet has a gray color. This helmet was painted red. The reason for this is not known. (See helmet number 0470, France)
