Norway Synthetic helmet (˜1980)
In this collection since: 28.12.2015
0734 Fire helmet from Oslo, capital of Norway.
The blue plastic helmet from the Norwegian company Tommy from Drammen in Norway was procured for all Norwegian fire brigades. The type is called "Godkjent". It was used in the years 1970 to 1995. The helmet as the successor of helmet no. 134 shows the same optics, the crest is now integrated into the helmet. The helmet color used to distinguish the normal fire fighters (blue) and the officers (aluminum) from one another in time of the former sheet metal helmets. While firemen were wearing the simple, natural helmet, commanders used the natural helmet with a small scarf chain. Today, the helmet color orange are for engineers, yellow for rescue services, red for firemen and silver for commanders.
The badge was used throughout Norway (helmet 178). However in larger cities by firefighters and officers, in smaller cities or municipalities only by the officers.
The uniform badge in the center of the star was replaced by fire brigades in large cities (like on this helmet) in Oslo or Bergen by the coat of arms of the city. Nowadays (2010) the metal badge is replaced by a decal.
Interesting is the reinforcement of the comb with sheet metal. On the side is the number "3329" Whether the number is a personnel number or a vehicle number remains open. An explanation attempt would be: Station 3 Sagene, vehicle 32 (Røykdykker / Froskemannsbil) compressed air breathing apparatus / diving vehicle.
The station is the oldest fire station in Oslo. It was built in 1913 and was operational from 1915 onwards. The station is with 4 shifts with 13 man in readiness.
