Netherlands Aluminum helmet (˜1985)
In this collection since: 21.11.2015
0722 Fire helmet from the Netherlands. The aluminum helmet was produced in 1985 in Germany. Since the DIN 14940 is valid since January 1962, this helmet is built according to this DIN. The stamping is inside the nack screen. The aluminum comb was added for use at the Dutch fire brigade. The comb is not provided for in DIN 14940. The inner helmet and its fastening to the helmet do also not correspond to the DIN norm. The plastic inner helmet was not fastened with rivets but with plastic grommets, which were inserted through oval openings in the helmet. The type of fastening corresponds to that of the civil protection helmet 0128, Netherlands. The original holes of the inner helmet mounting are available. They were closed with blind rivets. The leather chin strap was also attached to a new rivet. At the back, the third attachment point of the 4 point chin strap is covered by the aluminum comb. There is no sign of afire brigade on the helmet. There is a black, circumferential, thin strip. This is the rank marking for a "bevelvoerder".
Here is the complete rank marking. To this day, however, the stripes are red:

A thin red stripe
"Bevelvoerder" - (Commandant) Leader of a fire-fighting vehicle, group leader
Two thin red stripes
"Officier van Dienst" (officer of duty), platoon leader
Three red stripes
"Hoofd Officier van Dienst" - (chief officer of the service), department commander
A broad red strip
"Commandant", command commander
A thin and a wide red strip
"Regionaal Commandant" (region commander), Battalion chief
