0707 English fire helmet of the "NFS - National Fire Service". The NFS was the only fire brigade in Great Britain during the Second World War. It was founded in August 1941 by the merger of the national, voluntary fire brigade (AFS) and the local professional fire brigade. The NFS existed until 1948. After that the fire brigades were left to the municipalities. The NFS had full-time and part-time members, male and female. His uniform was traditionally dark blue. The helmet worn from 1936 to 1950 was modeled on the English military model of 1936. The helmet shell was built in 1943 by the company BMB from steel. The year of manufacture is stamped on the inner helmet. (BMB 11, 1943). The helmet size was built in 58. The number under the badge "26" indicates the region in which the helmet was used. 26 stands for the Civil Defense Region "North Western", Regional Headquarters "Manchester", Fireforce Headquarters "Liverpool". Numbers 33 to 38 were for London. In total there were 43 Fireforce Headquarters (fire brigades). Each of these 43 fire brigade units was divided into 2 divisions. Each division had five companies.
