Spain Synthetic helmet (˜1980)
In this collection since: 22.09.2015
0696 Fire helmet from Spain. Helmet manufacturer is Duraleu- Forte from Italy. The helmet type is "Modelo Bomberos Ayunt Barcelona". The black thermoset helmet was used in the city of Seville in the years around 1980. The helmet is oriented very strongly on the Mispahelmets from Italy (see helmets 165/168/305). The chin strap is made of nylon. The chin strap can not be opened. It is only adjustable in length. At the front is the insignia of the fire department of Seville. In addition to the inscription "Servicio de Extincion de Incendios Y Salvamentos", it shows the Seville coat of arms with the word "NO 8 DO".
From Wikipedia:
The city flag of Seville, as well as the coat of arms, bears the text NO 8 DO, with the number 8 symbolizing a woolen ball (span. Madeja). The text can be found everywhere in Seville on buildings, lanterns and police vehicles, and thus practically replaces the coat of armes of Seville. He is to be read as "NO-MADEJA-DO" ("No me ha dejado"), translating with "She has not left me". This play on words goes back to Alfonso X, who thanked for the loyalty of the city of Seville, while he lived in exile until his death.
