Federal Republic of Germany since 1949 Synthetic helmet (˜1987)
In this collection since: 21.05.2015
0674 Fire helmet from Germany. The manufacturer of this helmet was the German Auergesellschaft GmbH in Berlin. (Auer). Auer developed a helmet-mask combination with this helmet, which she named "Tristar".
This helmet and mask were made in 1987.
Auer described this combination in April 1988 as follows:
The helmet-mask combination improves the personal protective equipment of the firefighter. Every single firefighter receives an optimal head protection and can apply his respiratory mask 3S, without taking off the helmet or changing the size of the interior equipment. Helmet and mask are connected by an integrated adapter system.
In June 1990 Auer wrote:
Improvements of the fire brigades, after the performed field tests, were taken into account. The helmet mask combination Tristar is currently in the approval process at the test sites.
Auer presented the helmet for the first time at Interschutz 1988 in Hanover.
Dräger is also presenting a helmet-mask combination for the first time. (See helmets 155/651 Germany)
The development of Auer / Römer is based on a research commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Research and Technology. Both helmets (Auer and Dräger) did not meet the valid DIN 14940.
Later the development and production of the company Römer was continued. See helmets 105/227 Germany.
From Wikipedia:
The Auergesellschaft was originally (at the end of the 19th century) a Berlin company for the production of gas incandescent and metal filament lamps. At the founding site in Berlin-Friedrichshain, lamps were produced by successor companies until 1992.
After 1920, the Auergesellschaft acquired a worldwide reputation as a manufacturer of compressed air breathing apparatus for fire brigades and has been part of the American MSA (Mine Safety Appliances) group since 1958. In addition to fire brigade and other protective equipment, gas warning devices and test tubes are developed and produced at the Berlin site. Further information about the Auergesellschaft:
1992 Helmet mask combination Team F 200 is developed by Schuberth and AUER. (Combination of Schuberth F200 and Auer S3 mask, see helmet 0087 Germany)
2000 Change of the company name to MSA AUER GmbH
2002 the leading European manufacturer of protective helmets for the fire brigade and police, CGF Gallet, comes to the MSA family and becomes MSA GALLET.
