Brazil Brass helmet (˜1935)
In this collection since: 05.05.2015
0669 Firefighter helmet from Brazil. The brass helmet is from the time of 1895. It was originally built in France. It corresponds to the French fire-fighting helmets of this time. However, he has another inner helmet. The inner helmet consists only of a thin, leather headband with four leather strips. The thin, white chin strap can be closed by a metal buckle. For more details on the helmet, see helmet 466 or 541, France. The helmet was used by the fire brigade of the city of Belem. The badge on the front, as usual in France, is mounted in a similar way. It shows in the middle the coat of arms of the city of Belem in the state of Para, above it the insignia of the Brazilian fire brigades as also seen on modern helmets (see helmets 506, 507, 508, Brazil) and in the banderole the text: "Corpo Municipial de Bombeiros ". The helmet was worn between 1900 and 1940. In neighboring Argentina, the same helmet was used at that time.
