Denmark Steel helmet (˜1943)
In this collection since: 25.04.2015
0664 Fire helmet from Denmark. The black metal helmet corresponds to the German fire helmets M34. (See helmet 0049 Germany). These helmets were created before the Second World War and were worn until the 1970s. In contrast to the German helmets, these helmets had a brass comb. On the front is the general badge of the fire department. It shows a helmet and crossed water nozzle and ax. In addition to the organization Falck (see helmet 511), there are fire brigades in the larger municipalities and cities. They differ in the black helmet color and their own helmet coat. In some fire brigades, the general fire brigade badge can be seen here. (See Helmets 175, 664 Denmark), others have the coat of arms of the commune. (See Helmets 663,770, Denmark). The helmet is an absolute rarity! He has only one vent hole on each side. Ludwig Baer writes in his book: "In the planning for the III. Quarter of 1944, 600 helmets are also scheduled for delivery to Riga and 55 to Denmark, and in the fourth quarter of 1944, 200 raw helmet bowls are to be delivered to Slovakia.
The helmet has only one helmet ventilation opening. It could therefore come from the manufacturing from June 1943 onwards. From this point on, modified helmets were worn. "The helmet actually has a different interior. In addition to the significantly larger head impact plate, the leather chin strap has no conventional closure. On the left side, the cockade of the country of Denmark is red-white-red is attached.
