Spain Aluminum helmet (˜1950)
In this collection since: 05.03.2015
0653 Firefighter helmet from Spain. The black aluminum helmet corresponds to the German fire brigade helmets M34. (See helmet 0049 Germany). These helmets were created before the Second World War and were worn until the 1970s. In contrast to the German helmets, these helmets had a brass comb. Also the head impact plate and inner helmet of leather are slightly different, the chin strap has no closure, it is adjusted by two metal buckles in the size. The inner helmet and chinstraps are riveted to the helmet shell. The lateral ventilation holes are unsymmetrically drilled. It is to be assumed that these were made by hand without a template. On the front of the helmet is the brass badge of the fire brigade of Madrid. It is the great coat of arms of the citiy. It shows, beside a wreath and a dragon, a brown bear which stretches against a strawberry tree. Around this are 7 stars. Also a symbol of ths citiy.

See helmet 0528 Spain.
