Greece Aluminum helmet (˜1940)
In this collection since: 01.03.2015
0652 Fire helmet from Greece. The helmet of nickel-plated aluminum has an unusually large shape. The helmet and brims are stamped from one piece. The high, wide rectangular comb is hollow. It reaches only to the center of the helmet and is attached to the helmet with three screws. The inner helmet of leather is not adjustable to a head size. The leather chin strap is attached to the bowl at two points. It has no metal buckles but is displaced by moving the two parts together. At the attachment points of the chin strap is a fine-membered chain of round brass chain links attached. It has at most a decorative function. On the front is a metal badge. It shows the typical cockade of Greece. On it is a laurel wreath, and above is the crown of the kingdom.
Because the royal crown can be seen on this helmet, it can be assumed that the helmet was worn in the Kingdom of Greece between 1935 and 1950. The successor is helmet number 438.
