United States Synthetic helmet (˜1982)
In this collection since: 02.11.2014
0635 Fire helmet from the USA. The fire helmet shown here is an absolute novelty. Manufacturer is the company "Cairns & Brothers". The helmet model is called "660-C-P Metro". The helmet is unique because it has an invisible visor in addition to the also very rare helmet "Fire Knight" of the company MSA (see helmet 362, USA). The 660-C-P is very similar to the 660-C (helmet 024, USA). The helmet, which is also used by the Dallas Fir eDepartment, is nearly identical in its outer shape. Only the heel on the helmet to take the visor is different. Inside the helmet there are various types of batches. Accordingly to this, the helmet corresponds to the CAL-OSHA. It is also written: This protective helmet meets or exceeds NFPA 1972 and all applicable performance requirements of U.S.F.A. Project Fires P.E.P.S per contract # EMW-C-0546
(USFA US Fire Administration). The interior is model S / E. The date of manufacture is indicated as 22.03.1982. The 660C helmets was only introduced in 1981. Maybe this helmet is a test helmet that has never been produced in series. The so-called "Defender Visor" will only appear again from 2006 on the helmets 1010 and 1044 and from 2008 on the models 660,664 and HP3. However, the visors are then significantly smaller and have a cut-out for the nose.
