Synthetic helmet (˜1970)

Fire helmet from the USA. The red polycarbonate helmet was produced by Gentex. The helmet type is called Fyr Fyter. The year of manufacture is the year 1970. In addition to the production of polycarbonate, the helmets were also made of bakelite and GRP. The helmet model Fyr Fyter was used mainly at military fire departments. This helmet however comes from the city of Clearlake in the state of South Dakota. The fire brigade of the city is a volunteer fire brigade. The helmet with the distinctive, high combs has a protective visor which is placed on the front screen. The visor is held on the helmet by a spring that runs from side to side behind the helmet. The inner helmet consists of nylon straps, the chin strap is made of elastic linen fabric. At the front is the badge of the fire department. It shows the fire brigade sign and underneath "Clear Lake Voluntar Fire Department". Clear Lake, South Dakota is located approximately 200km west of Mineapolis. |
