Cork helmet (˜1950)
In this collection since: 22.08.2014 |
0617 |
Fire helmet from Belgium. The black cork helmet was produced by the Belgian company Levior around 1950. For details of the helmet, see Helmets 17, 469, 156 Belgium. The helmet has the metal badge of the Belgian civil defense at the front. The quotation under the emblem "Impavidum Ferient Ruinare" comes from Horace Oden and means with the preceding text (Si fractus illabatur orbis), for example, "when the world collapses, the debris will fall upon an intrepid." The symbol shows an unarmed fighter with a defense shield. Above the emblem is the crown of the Belgian royal house. |
