Brass helmet (˜1923)

Fire helmet from France. Brass helmet model 1923. The crew helmet was worn at the fire department of the city of Avignon. The helmet is an interesting mix of helmets of two consecutive helmet shapes and helmet generations. While the helmet bowl even have the shape of the helmets from 1885 to 1895, the comb is taken from the newer Adrian helmet M33 from 1933. This combination was worn around 1935. The badge on the front corresponds to the badges on this time, but it has in blazon instead of the usual grenade the coat of arms of the city of Avignon. Among the motto "Bec et Griffes" - (beak and claws). See also helmet number 634 for the helmet bowl and helmet 541 for the comb. |
