Hungarian fire helmet. The steel helmet was introduced in the mid 1930s at the Hungarian fire departments. His example is the Hungarian military helmet M35, which was built according to the German model, but it had a different inner helmet. In many cases, this helmet has been supplemented with an aluminum spider and a front badge. After a German decree of 07.28.1934, on this helmet are on the left side the emblem of the German fire police (Feuerlöschpolizei) mounted, on the right side the black swastika in a round, white field on red shield. The helmet was built by the Hungarian company MAVAG (Budapest). At the rear screen embossing is internally mounted: MAVAG 64 plus a small Hungarian Coat of arms. For company MAVAG we read the following in Wikipedia: Magyar Királyi Államvasutak Gépgyára ( shortly MÁVAG - German machine factory of the Royal Hungarian State Railways) was a Hungarian locomotive and wagon factory owned by the Kingdom of Hungary. After the Second World War, MÁVAG was nationalized and the additional "Királyi" (Royal), was removed from the company name. The company employed once several thousand workers. The factory was located in the 8th District of Budapest. Striking is the greenish color of the helmet. The red- brown leather interior is prepared as the later inner helmets of the later German fire helmets. Before this helmet was used, leather and metal helmets from Austria were worn in Hungary. Hungary was united with Austria until the the end of World War I in 1918. Successor of this helmet should be helmets number 77/261/546. |
