German Reich until 1918 Leather helmet (˜1910)
In this collection since: 29.01.2014
0570 Fire helmet from Germany. The leather helmet shown here is probably one of the most built leather helmets in Germany. The helmet was created in the period after the First World War. It was derived from the M15 that was used in the German army. Often the Army Helmet M15 was converted into a fireman's helmet. The helmet has a comb, coated with nickel silver, the eye shade and the lateral cockades for fastening the chin strap are also made of nickel silver, among which are the right hands of the cockades of the German Empire (black-white-red) and left the colors of the country Prussia (black-white-black) attached. The white color is here, however, no longer exists. After the German war, Schleswig-Holstein becomes a Prussian Provinz in 1867. At the front is mounted a badge made of nickel silver. On the left, the Schleswig's lion, on the right panel the Holstein nettle leaf. Including the writing of the municipality "Rethwischdorf" is engraved. It is located about 20km south-west of Lübeck.
The helmet was worn in the period between 1910 and 1934.
