0556 Fire helmet from Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. The white polycarbonate helmet was produced in the period around 1991. The manufacturer of the helmet is not known. However, the helmet itself comes from Russia. The helmet type is called “KZ91”. This type of helmet exists since 1991. It is still being constructed (2014). Parallel, there is a similar helmet. The helmet looks almost identical. This type of helmet is called: “RS-94M”. It can assumed, that this type was produced from 1994 onwards. Both types of helmets orient themselves in the form of the predecessor helmet number 442. The helmet, shown here, was in use in the period between 1991 and 2013 in the fire station 2 in Chisinau. In the urban area, there are 5 fire stations. In the Fire Station 2 are 35 firefighters, 9 Machinists and 4 dispatchers making 4 shifts.
As an independent state, the Republic of Moldova exists since 1991, when the Moldavian Soviet republic declared her independence during the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Until then, the fire brigade equipment of the Soviet Union was used. In 1991 was the newly developed, Soviet helmet “KZ91” (see helmet 556) in use. After the founding of the new state, the equipment was still used. The fire brigade and civilian emergency organization of the Moldovan State was still supplied with the necessary materials. On the initiative of firefighter, other fire helmets were given to Moldova from other states. The fire station 2 has affixed their emblems on this helmet. On the front and back, the yellow number 2 is attached as marking of the station number. At the front, the emblem of the Moldovan civil protection is attached.
