Scotland (UK) Leather helmet (˜1950)
In this collection since: 20.09.2013
0543 Black leather helmet with visor from Scotland. The helmet model Henry, has similarity with the helmet no.: 122. The wide leather strip that runs in the middle from front to back over the helmet, is typical for the helmets of this model. However, the crest is missing. There is a round metal badge on the front. In the red field stands: "Skegness Aerodrome Lincs". In the midst of writing is a sport airplane shown. At the upper edge the letter "RFFS" can be indicate. RFFS stands for "Rescue and Fire Fighting Services". The very heavy and massive helmet has a very vertical front and rear protection shield. The rear shield is running laterally under the front shield and it is slightly longer. Laterally is the perspex visor, which is approximately 4mm thick, attached. Interesting is the mounting, which always guaranteed via a second rotation point that the visor fits tightly to the helmet, whether it is closed or folded back on the helmet. On the right side of the bracket, the Patent No. .: is "681314 M" is stamped. The helmet interior is like any leather helmet. The chin strap has two push buttons for length adjustment. The helmet shows a stamping manufacturer: "JAS - Hendry Ltd. - Manuf. - Glasgow. The helmet was worn during the period from 1950, primarily for fire brigades at airports.
