| 0542 | Russian fire helmet from the Ukraine area. The helmet was built around 1960. The type of helmet was worn from end of WW2 unti 1970. The white painted helmet seems to have been made by hand. The edge is not crimped; the neck and front shells appear to have been driven with the hammer. Coat of arms and comb are welded; the coat of arms is as white as the helmet. It shows a fire truck with ladder, above the Russian star, left and right, a hammer and a kind of screw clamp. The inner helmet made of leather is fastened with rivets on the helmet. Firefighters wore this helmet dark green or in olive color. For officers, this helmet was chromed. Why this helmet is white, is not known. | |||||
