| 0528 | Fire helmet from Madrid, capital city of Spain. The black leather helmet dates from the period around 1920. The helmet consists of three parts. These are front shield, neck shield and the helmet bell itself, the two shields are sewn to the helmet bowl; a circumferential, thick bead covers the seam. On the side, the shields are not connected. While the eye shield is edged with bronze, the neck plate has no border. On the helmet bowl, a low and very rounded comb is attached. The leather chin strap is held by brass buttons on the side. There is an embossed bronze badge of the fire brigade of Madrid on the front. It shows next to a wreath and a dragon a brown bear that stretched out against a strawberry tree. Trappings 7 stars. The coat of arms of Madrid. At the later worn leather helmets of 1930, and the "German fire helmet" from 1940, is the same coat of arms. On the shield, however, then is only the brown bear to see. | |||||
