Leather helmet (˜1900)

Fire helmet from Switzerland. The leather helmet corresponds to the Swiss standard type around 1900. The leather helmet is probably originated, like many Swiss leather helmets, from the German city Offenbach am Main. There, the helmets were manufactured individually as desired. This got a high brass comb in a triangular shape, a front plate enclosure made of brass and brass rosettes at the side with the Swiss cross for fastening the chin strap. The transition of eye and neck shield is provided with a leather layers. The brass comb is with cotter pins fastened to the helmet bowl. |
