Chile Synthetic helmet (˜1980)
In this collection since: 07.03.2013
0504 Fire helmet from the Chilean capital, Santiago de Chile.
The helmet is from the local fire department Division 6 (6 ª Compañia). Some of the 22 fire stations refer with their badge on their origin. For example, the unit 4 is the Pompe de France, 10 the Bomba Espana, 11the Italian, 14 Great Britain and the German (God with us),is the station 15.
The black fiberglass helmet bears the Silver Star with company number of the unit. These stars are worn on the helmets since 1900. The 6 ª Compañia was founded on 12.20.1863. It celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2013. The helmet was built in the period around 1980. He has not been produced industrially. As the Mexican helmet No. 150, the helmet seems to be manually prepared from fiberglass and painted. The helmet interior consists only of plastic strips that are riveted in 4 places on the helmet bell; the front strap is lined with leather. The head size adjustment is limited. Same applies to the leather chin strap. It has no possibility to open it; it can be moved only in length. The eye shield is lined with metal, jewelry; a storm belt with rosetts made of nickel silver was attached. The comb is also made of nickel silver. He is very solid and bolted to the helmet bowl in two places. All in all a, simple and heavy helmet. At the front, the lable 6 for the station is attached. The badge is made of sheet metal; it is attached with two wires at the helmet. In 2013, the unit uses the Rosenbauer Heroes Xtrem. At official ceremonies, parades and exercises, the unit uses these helmets still today.
