United Kingdom (UK) Leather helmet (˜1900)

0501 Fire helmet from England. The black lacquered leather helmet was produced by the company Merryweather & Sons in 1900. According to a catalog sheet of the company, the helmet was known as the figure number 177A. (Figure 177 is the military version) The model was officially called: Model Volunteer No.1. The leather helmet consists of a helmet bowl that seamlessly merges into the neck-guard in the back. The separate visor is sewn to the helmet bowl. This seam is covered with a profiled brass strips. Also, the shaped helmet crest is sewn to the helmet bowl. The front is covered with a "mythical creatures" made of brass, on the front, a wide brass strip is attached. It has the contour of a shed chain. Eye and neck guard have a brass bezel. On the side, flowers-cockades made of brass are holding a chin strap, made from leather.
