Brass helmet (˜1880)

French fire helmet made of brass. The helmet was worn in the 1880s. The helmet is the successor of helmet 439 The distinctive, high comb is screwed onto the helmet bell, it is pointed forward. It is the same comb, which is also used in the helmets with horsehair on the comb (see helmet 161). At the front of the emblem of the Sapeur-Pompiers (fire brigade) and the exploding grenade can be seen. Eye and neck shield are reinforced with a brass bezel. Lateral brass rosettes keep the chin scales, which consist of pressed brass. The inside of the shed chain is provided with leather and padded with cardboard. |
