Sheetsteel helmet (˜1810) In this collection since: 07.03.2013
0497
French fire helmet made of iron sheet in 1810 with shingle conveyor. The sheet iron helmet was available with or without brass comb.
The body of the helmet consists of two parts, a cylindrical portion and a half-sphere. At this the front and neck shield are attached. Rosettes and chin strap are similar to the successor. At the front is a brass badge. It shows two crossed axes and an exploding grenade. The leather helmet interior is partly preserved.
The bare helmet was already replaced around 1825 by a new, powerful brass helmet (see helmet 161).
