Leather helmet (˜1880)

Fire helmet Austria. The helmet was built by Konrad Rosenbauer in Linz, Austria in 1880. The helmet is made of black lacquered leather. While eye and neck shield are also painted black inside, the helmet bowl is uncoated on the inside. The two helmet shields are not laterally connected. The inner helmet running down out of the helmet bowl and forms a circumferential outer bead, where the two shields are attached. Eye and neck shield are provided with a sheet metal enclosure made of nickel silver. Also, the broad, rounded comb and the underlying brought additional cross braces Wiener form are made of nickel silver. The leather storm band is attached to two massive lions' heads made of nickel silver. |
