Fire helmet from Germany. The leather helmet shown here, is probably one of the most leather helmets built in Germany. The helmet was created in the period after the First World War. It was derived from the M15 which was used in the German army in 1915. Often, the army helmet M15 was converted into a fire helmet. The helmet has a brass comb, the eye shield is edged with brass, and the side cockades for fastening the chin strap are also made of brass. A special feature is the ball tip that was mounted on the helmet crest. It also consists of brass and should characterize the commander of the fire brigade. The helmet was worn during the period 1915-1934. |
