Switzerland Leather helmet (˜1920)
In this collection since: 07.03.2013
0475 Fire helmet from Switzerland. The leather helmet was worn in western Switzerland, in the canton of Bern. The helmet has no metal parts, no plate mount to eye or neck guard and no metal comb. Instead, a soft, rubbery bead was mounted as a comb. The helmet was designed for firefighter’s electrician. At the front is in red font, the letters EC (électricien companie). This was common only in the French-speaking area of western Switzerland. For the rest area, a red flash was the sign of the fire electrician. The helmet was worn in the period around 1920.
