France Synthetic helmet (˜1970)
In this collection since: 01.12.2012
0451 Fire helmet from France. The bright red helmet was developed in the late 1970 years and also produced in a very small quantity. The first of these helmets were white and had a slightly different form. Developer and manufacturer was the French company Guéneau- Geno. The company manufactured also military and civilian helmets before. In the late 1970s the fire brigade from Toulon asked for a new generation of helmets made of plastic. Guéneau- Geno developed the helmet. It was first prepared as a model JBI. The revised version was called JBII. When the company Guéneau- Geno early 1980s had economic problems it was bought by the company Jean Gallet et Fils (GALLET). Gallet returned to the model JBI. The helmet was ordered inter alia by private fire departments as the company EDF. The helmet was until the early 1990s in use. He was taken off the market and replaced by the then new F1 Gallet helmet. This was developed around 1985 and placed on the market. The helmet JBI gave the idea for it. The very light helmet made of fiberglass has a very thin helmet shell. The helmet shape is not the same as the previous French helmets. The high helmet shell has an incorporated comb. Laterally, the helmet goes over the ears. To improve the hearing, fine grids from metal were installed in the region of the ears. The perspex visor closes the helmet completely. It is attached to the side at the helmet and has in the closed state, the same bottom edge as the helmet itself. A dark additional screen can be mounted by four snaps on the clear visor. The inside helmet is also different from the previous helmets. Instead leather or plastic fabrice material is used now. The shell is lined with PU foam.
