Iron sheet helmet (˜1810)
In this collection since: 06.07.2012 |
0441 |
French fire helmet made of sheet iron at circa 1810 with brass crest and slat conveyor. The sheet iron helmet has had existed with or without brass comb.
The body of the helmet is made of two parts, a cylindrical part and a half sphere. On this, the front and the neck shield are attached. On the bowl, the light comb from brass is screwed on. Rosettes and chin strap looks similar to the successor. At the front is a brass badge. It shows two crossed axes and an exploding grenade you'd find on the front of the comb again. The leather inside helmet is received.
The black helmet was already around 1825 replaced by a new, massive brass helmet (see helmet no. 161).
