Fire helmet from the DDR (former German Democratic Republic). Unused, at the time of the reunion current chrome helmet without a visor. In the late 1970s, the VEB Plastverarbeitung developed in Staaken the helmet bowl for a new fire helmet made of polymer, which then from VEB Perfect (formerly Lubstein company) was assembled for firefighters helmet. This helmet also received an evaporated chromium layer, which should reflect about 90% of the occurring heat. The helmet was tested at the beginning of the 1980s in few professional fire brigades and was then used by the professional Fire Services. There were different lengths of leather neck protection. In addition to short for machinists (as here), there was also long for fire fighters. The new design of the helmet should also be issued to the volunteer fire brigades. The inside helmet bears the imprint "NVA". He is taken from the NVA steel helmet M56. (NVA - Nationale Volksarmee - The Armed Forces of the German Democratic Republic). The dependence of the shape to the Russian fire helmets with visor ball is unmistakable. (see Helm No: 37). The helmet has existed in two sizes, this helmet is size 2. In the helmet bell inside indicates the number: S-3358/1. Another signe in the center of the helmet bowl gives a information about the date of manufacturingter of the helmet bowl: 4/88. The Medi Maske type: 13315, manufactured by VEB Kombinat Medizin- und Labortechnik (medical and laboratory equipment) in Leipzig and a bag for the breathing mask made of cloth. The type: 13028 - 31 The hook strap from leather and canvas with a massive safety hook should fit in the years around 1970. |
