In this collection since: 25.06.2012
0438 Greek fire helmet following the Austrian example. The helmet is made of leather, front and neck guard are made from painted metal. Officer rank. Because Austria was significantly involved in the reorganization of the Greek fire system, it is not surprising, to find helmets following the Austrian example in Greece.
These helmets were worn from about 1950 to 1967 in the period between World War II and the military dictatorship. The badge on the front shows the typical cockade (guard star), on it a coat of arms with the words "Pyrosvestikon Soma" (fire service), the Greek cross (national emblem) and over the shield the crown of the kingdom. Successor is helmet number 174. The very massive, golden chain, held on the side by two Lionhead cockades, is mounted on a leather thong. The high comb of brass, is adorned sideways with laurel leaves and extends to the back of the neck plate. Officers wore this helmet additional with sideways laurel leaves applications. Team ranks has had this not.
