| 0434 | Fire helmet from Switzerland. The yellow aluminum helmet was made in the form of the former army helmets for firefighters. The new material is a tribute to the widespread complaints against the weight of the helmets. The helmets before was made from sheet steel (see Helm 19/82/83). The yellow helmet comes from the Civil Defence of Switzerland. Obviously the helmet was built much later than helmet no. 127 wich is made of aluminum already. The slightly improved interior suggests. The helmet appears to have never been worn. Maybe the helmet was manufactured in the period after 1965. Successors of these helmets were worn from 1970 and are made of polycarbonate in the form of classic American helmets. (see helmets 4/81). | |||||
