0428 Fire helmet from the Netherlands. The black helmet is a U.S. American production. Manufacturer is the company Fibre-Metal that was founded in 1905 and still exists today (2012). The company now manufactures helmets for safety. The comparable helmet type is now called E-1 Full Brim. The helmet is made of fiberglass, inside there is a stamp that the material called "super glass". The helmet in his time held several patents, patent numbers are printed on the inside helmet. When the helmet was made and how long it was in use is not known, but it can assume that he was worn around the year 1960-1970. The shape of the helmet is rather unusual for the Netherlands. The fire departments of the Netherlands used leather helmets for a long time and then helmets from German production, such as the modified, German Civil Defense helmet (see helmet 128) or a plastic helmet in the form of the former leather helmets (helmet 102/90). The helmet is very light, has a relatively symmetrical shape so that inside also a reference to the "front" and back "- page is given. The inside helmet is made of plastic. It is equipped with eight plastic rivets secured to the shell where the leather chinstrap is attached. The inside helmet is adjustable in size, round, there is a leather strap. On the front is the badge of the Dutch fire service wich was usual at this time. The fire department badge was worn in the period from about 1950 until about the 1980th It is made of brass and features a helmet, ax, leadder and wire.
From 1980 to 2010 a recent fire emblem sheet (Helm 90) or plastic badge was worn (Helm 73). Since about 2010 there is again a newer emblem.
